Poetry + Music Night with Geoff Fields and Emilee Petersmark

It’s a great night for a night in as author Geoff Fields shares his new book of poetry, Unspoken Thoughts of Birds. He”ll be joined by Emilee Petersmark, its illustrator, and incredibly talented singer/songwriter best known as the co-lead singer of the local indie-folk band The Crane Wives. You’re in for a treat when this poet and musician team up for an hour of words and music on Facebook Live! See the event here: https://www.facebook.com/NicolasBooksA2

ABOUT THE BOOK:

This illustrated book of poems is a collaboration between Geoff Fields and Emilee Petersmark. Birds inspired the poems; poems inspired the drawings. Altogether, they explore the nature of awareness and test the boundaries of words, mainly from the point of view of birds.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Geoff Fields is a trial attorney, cook, poet, and long distance hiker, not necessarily in that order. Previously, he published a book of short stories and poems (“This Michigan Farm”) through Schuler Books’ Chapbook Press. In keeping with his Appalachian Trail name - “The Grateful Dad” - he and his wife spend as much time as possible with their daughters and a son-in-law in London.

Emilee Petersmark is an acclaimed artist with strong Michigan roots. Working full-time as a touring musician with her band, The Crane Wives, she spent her days on the road connecting with artist communities across the country and building a portfolio of traditional and digital art that is evocative, outspoken, and vulnerable. Emilee has produced original album and poster artwork for The Accidentals, Melophobix, Patty Pershayla & The Mayhaps, Blushing Monk, Hannah Rose & The Gravestones, Chris DuPont, and more. She illustrated her first children's book, Harry and the Hurricane by Gordon Berg, in 2019. Find more of Emilee’s illustrations on Facebook (facebook.com/ermsauceart) and Instagram (@ermsauce).
