Nicola Rooney - Owner
Nicola has owned the store since 1995.  She previously was an Chemical Engineer, but has been a big reader ever since she can remember.  Her reading preferences center on history, both fiction and non-fiction.  Her current favorite series is the "Pink Carnation" by Lauren Willig - an entertaining series in the style of The Scarlet Pimpernel, with a contemporary and historical story line.  Nicola is very excited to announce that Lauren Willig will be coming to the store in November with her next book.   

Bill Cusumano - Buyer

Bill Cusumano is in his 19th year in the book business with 15 of those years has been with Nicola.  He is the adult front list buyer for the store which is all the new release books.  He also does the backlist buying for the store.l  Backlist books are the previously published book by the authors.  Look or Bill's picks under our "Staff Picks" area.

Jeno Dragonescu - Bookseller

Jeno is one of Nicola's newest employees.  He started in July of 2009.  He says he loves to work at Nicola's because it is very laid back and his fellow employees are easy to work with.  His book background is in Manga, graphic novels and young adult fiction.  Jeno says another reason he likes to work at Nicola's is because it is a unique place that brings in interesting, multi-cultural people that then leads to a whole new world of books for him see and explore.  As Jeno puts it, "it is a never ending lesson."

Jack Gillard - Bookseller

Jack has been a bookseller for 18 years, spending six of those with Nicola's Books.  Jack loves being a book detective no matter if you want new or used.  His biggest challenge is to keep the independent bookstore alive and well.

Linda Goodman - Bookseller

Linda Goodman is Nicola's Books children's department maestro.  Linda's extensive knowledge of childrens books is what makes her an excellent buyer for the department.  Nicola believes that Linda has most likely read more childrens books than the staff combined and that includes all the reading people did in their younger years.  Linda has been a bookseller since 1995 and also worked at the former Traver Village store.

Carrie Jackson - Periodicals

Jessie Martin - Bookseller

Jessie is a seven year plus member of Nicola's staff.  She also worked at the Common Language bookstore for two years.  Jessie just loves to work around the books all day and said that she would have withdrawl if she couldn't see what was coming out new each week.  She likes to read contemporary fiction and an occasional mystery.

Andre Peltier - Bookseller

Andre has worked at Nicola's since November of 2008.  His background is in American Literature, 19th century British Literature and African-American Literature.  He also teaches these subjects at Eastern Michigan University.  Andre likes to work at Nicola's because he can help people something diffferent and interesting to read that they might not find on their own as well as for himself.  He also likes the fact that Nicola's is a locally owned business and he is glad to be a part of that.
